Accommodation Tax

​

Nagano Prefecture will introduce a new accommodation tax on June 1, 2026, applying to all guests staying at hotels, ryokan, and private lodging (minpaku). 

 

A tax of ¥400 per person per night applies for accommodation fees of ¥20,000 to less than ¥50,000 (pre-tax). 

This rate is expected to be increased from June 1, 2029.

Details of the Nagano Accommodation Tax

  • All guests will have to pay this mandatory Tax when check-in with cash. 

  • Effective Date: June 1, 2026.

  • Targeted Amount: ¥20,000 to less than ¥50,000 per person/night 

  • Tax Amount (June 1, 2026 – May 31, 2029): ¥400 per person per night.

  • Payment Method: cash on-site when check in.

  • Exemptions: Stays costing less than ¥6,000 per person per night, and or trip organised by educational structure.

Exchange and Returns (Refund Policy):

Cancellation Policy
We facilitate prepayment of the full amount while booking is made. 
The guest can refund 90% of the full amount if the booking is cancelled 3 months before arrival.
The guest will be charged 100% of the total price if they cancel in the 3 months before arrival. 
If the guest doesn’t show up, they will be charged the total price of the reservation.
